A Property Designed Around the Wedding Experience

The first thing you’ll notice when you arrive at King Cole Farm is The Residence.

Framed by wide open farmland just outside Dover, the stately brick home has become the defining image of the property. It’s where wedding mornings begin, where photographers capture some of the day’s most memorable portraits, and where family and friends gather throughout the wedding weekend.

Beyond The Residence, the property offers a collection of distinct event spaces, each with its own role in the wedding experience. Couples can exchange vows overlooking a peaceful pond, celebrate with family and friends in the Pole Barn, gather inside the new Garden Room, or invite guests to stay nearby at The Retreat.

Together, these spaces allow the property to accommodate everything from intimate gatherings to full wedding weekends.

The Residence Is the Heart of King Cole Farm

Originally built as the family home, The Residence has become one of King Cole Farm’s defining features.

Its classic brick architecture, expansive porches, balconies overlooking the ceremony lawn, and beautifully maintained grounds create some of the property’s most recognizable backdrops for wedding photography. It’s easy to understand why so many couples choose to begin and end their wedding portraits here.

Inside, The Residence welcomes couples and their wedding party throughout the wedding weekend. Spacious gathering areas provide room to get ready together before the ceremony, while overnight accommodations allow everyone to settle in and enjoy the property a little longer.

The home also lends itself beautifully to intimate rehearsal dinners and farewell brunches, giving couples another opportunity to bring family and friends together in a setting that feels warm, comfortable, and connected to the rest of the property.

A Beautiful New Ceremony Space

One of the newest additions to King Cole Farm is the Garden Room, a standalone event space that introduces another beautiful setting for ceremonies and celebrations.

Natural light pours through tall arched windows, while handcrafted wood entry doors, soaring ceilings, and clean architectural lines give the space a timeless character. The design immediately stood out to us because it feels remarkably adaptable. Couples can easily envision everything from classic white florals to dramatic installations, modern styling, or richly layered seasonal décor.

The Garden Room joins King Cole Farm’s scenic outdoor ceremony site overlooking the pond, giving couples another beautiful place to exchange vows. It’s equally well suited for rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, intimate receptions, and the venue’s dedicated micro wedding package, making it one of the most versatile spaces on the property.

Gathering Family and Friends

For larger celebrations, the Pole Barn serves as King Cole Farm’s primary reception space. Originally part of the working farm, the renovated barn accommodates up to 300 seated guests and includes a spacious reception hall, the Sun Porch, Courtyard, catering prep kitchen, Groomsmen’s Lodge, and outdoor gathering areas with lawn games and fire pits.

The variety of indoor and outdoor gathering spaces gives guests plenty of opportunities to connect throughout the evening, whether that’s during cocktail hour on the Sun Porch, around the fire pits, or on the dance floor.

Making a Weekend of It

King Cole Farm also offers couples the opportunity to extend the celebration beyond the wedding day through The Retreat, located just a few minutes from the venue.

The collection of cottages and RV sites provides overnight accommodations for wedding parties and out-of-town guests who want to stay close to the festivities while enjoying the quiet surroundings of the farm.

Whether guests stay for one night or the entire weekend, The Retreat makes it easy to keep everyone together throughout the celebration.

Wed Society Delaware + Eastern Shore Take

King Cole Farm has grown into one of the more versatile wedding venues we’ve toured. The addition of the Garden Room expands the property’s appeal well beyond larger receptions, while the Pole Barn remains one of the largest reception spaces among Delaware’s farm and estate wedding venues, accommodating up to 300 seated guests. It’s a combination that allows the property to comfortably host everything from intimate ceremonies and micro weddings to full-scale celebrations and wedding weekends.
