How J. Starr’s Designs Uses Flowers to Shape the Wedding Day Experience
Based on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, J. Starr’s Designs creates custom wedding florals for couples throughout the Eastern Shore, Delaware, and beyond. Owner and lead designer Jamie Taylor approaches flowers as part of the larger visual story of a wedding day, creating designs that feel personal, intentional, and reflective of each couple.

Most people think wedding flowers are decorative.
Jamie Taylor sees them differently.
As a wedding florist serving Maryland’s Eastern Shore and the Delaware beaches, Jamie views flowers as an artistic medium. They create atmosphere, frame meaningful moments, and help shape the experience of a wedding day.
A bouquet becomes part of the photographs a couple will revisit for decades. A ceremony installation draws every eye toward the couple. A thoughtfully placed arrangement can transform an ordinary space into something guests remember.
The flowers themselves matter. But for Jamie, what matters most is what they help create.
Her work begins with understanding the couple, the experience they want to create, and the moments they want guests to remember.
Flowers That Tell Guests Where to Look
When couples begin planning wedding florals, it’s easy to focus on quantities.
How many centerpieces?
How many bouquets?
How many ceremony flowers?
Jamie starts somewhere else.
Where will guests first arrive?
What moments deserve the most attention?
Where will the couple spend the most meaningful parts of the day?
“The ceremony is where every eye is on you,” Jamie says.
That perspective shapes the way she approaches floral design. Rather than spreading flowers evenly across an entire wedding, she helps couples identify where florals can create the strongest visual impact.
The result is often a wedding where a few carefully considered design moments accomplish far more than dozens of smaller arrangements.

Creating Impact Beyond the Centerpiece
One of Jamie’s strengths is helping couples see possibilities they may not have considered.
Ceremony flowers don’t necessarily have to stay at the ceremony.
A floral installation can serve multiple purposes throughout the day.
A statement piece can continue creating impact long after guests take their seats for dinner.
By thinking beyond individual arrangements, Jamie helps couples maximize both their floral investment and their overall guest experience.
It’s an approach rooted in experience, creativity, and a genuine understanding of how weddings function.
The goal isn’t simply to add flowers.
It’s to create moments that feel purposeful.

Color, Character, and a Sense of Place
Her work balances garden-inspired abundance with thoughtful composition.
While she appreciates the timeless appeal of white and green weddings, Jamie has a particular fondness for color.
“If you’re a color bride, I’m your girl,” she says with a laugh.
That enthusiasm reflects a broader philosophy. Jamie isn’t trying to fit couples into a particular style. She’s helping them create a wedding that feels authentic to who they are.
From waterfront celebrations in St. Michaels to coastal weddings in Rehoboth Beach, Jamie adapts her designs to fit both the setting and the couple at the center of it.
Whether she’s designing for a waterfront venue, an estate celebration near Easton, or a wedding along the Delaware coast, the goal remains the same: creating florals that feel connected to the overall experience of the day.
Creating Weddings That Feel Like You
The weddings Jamie remembers most aren’t defined by a specific flower or color palette.
They’re the weddings where every detail feels connected to the couple.
Ask Jamie what she hopes guests notice when they walk into a wedding, and the answer is simple.
“I want guests to walk in and say, ‘That is so you.'”
It’s a philosophy that influences every recommendation she makes.
The color palette.
The floral style.
The placement of key design elements.
The overall atmosphere of the day.
Those details work together to create something authentic rather than formulaic.
And perhaps that’s the best definition of luxury.
Not the number of flowers in a room.
Not following a trend because everyone else is doing it.
But creating a wedding that feels deeply personal, thoughtfully designed, and unmistakably your own.
