Rain, Light, and a Dramatic Low Back: Carley & Matthew
Storm clouds, hunter green, and cinematic portraits after dark
Rain on a wedding day changes the light.
Clouds rolling low across the golf course. Satin catching softer tones. A cathedral veil lifting hard in the wind against an open stretch of green at Bear Trap Dunes in Ocean View, Delaware.
And these two photographed beautifully in it.
Carley wore an embroidered satin halter gown with a dramatic open back and long veil trailing behind her across the grass. Matthew kept things classic in a black tux, sharp against the muted sky and pale landscape.
The bridal party brought in the strongest color moment. Hunter green dresses lined up against white florals and black tuxes. Clean. Graphic. Especially against the overcast backdrop.
You can’t control the weather on your wedding day, but you can lean into it. One of our favorite moments captured is the rain falling as the two of them stand backlit in the dark, the weather becoming part of the visual story itself.
