A colorful, barefoot summer garden wedding
Bare feet in the grass. Long tables set in a field. Baskets of flowers spilling over at every turn.
“LJ and I have always had this vision of a big summer disco garden party in a field, barefoot, with all of our favorite people.”
They chose a wide-open property in Ocean View, Delaware, with trees, cabins, and room to build something entirely their own. One visit, one decision.
Alex knew what she wanted.
A corset bodice gown with a soft A-line skirt and delicate floral detail that echoed the setting around her. The first dress she tried on. She knew it was the one.
“I used my mom’s veil to create the ties on my dress. It was a really special touch that I will never forget.”
The bridal party carried the color story.
Each bridesmaid in a different shade. Pastels, neutrals, and brighter tones layered together. Each bouquet matched the dress. Purple with lavender-toned blooms. Green with hydrangea. Bright pink paired with roses. A full spectrum of color and florals that leaned right into the garden party vision. The guys stayed natural in light, airy linen suits.
Blooms everywhere.
Arrangements set low across long wooden tables. Baskets overflowing with color. Soft patterned linens, floral signage, and vintage glassware in pinks, purples, and blues added texture across each place setting.
The seating chart sat on a whitewashed bookshelf, filled with an assortment of framed cards. Different sizes, different styles. Full of character.
“LJ is the most laid back, free spirited, fun loving human. It was important to me that our wedding reflected who he is, too. We wanted all of our guests to have a blast, enjoy delicious food, fun drinks and music.”
That shows up in the photos.
They stayed away from traditional posed portraits and leaned into something more editorial. A veil lifting in the air. A spin in the grass. A quiet moment sitting together, low to the ground.
Just being there. Taking it in.
As the sun dropped and the sky turned purple, the sailcloth tent came into its own. String lights overhead. The field dimming around it.
