Emily & Ryan’s Downtown Wilmington Wedding with Their Dogs

Historic Wilmington backdrops, candlelit romance, and two very well-dressed pups

In downtown Wilmington, surrounded by historic architecture, stone staircases, and some of the city’s most recognizable backdrops, Emily & Ryan tied the knot. And right in the middle of it all were Henry & Bubba, the couple’s dogs, dressed in tuxedos and stealing nearly every frame they appeared in.

The ceremony took place at Sacred Heart Oratory, one of Wilmington’s most recognizable historic churches, known for its Gothic Revival architecture and intricate interior detail. Portraits followed nearby at Marian Coffin Gardens at Gibraltar, where stone terraces, formal gardens, and layered greenery created a romantic contrast to the downtown setting.

Emily wore an off-the-shoulder gown with floral appliqué and a full tulle skirt, paired with classic ivory florals and soft neutrals on the bridesmaids. Ryan kept it classic in a black tux. Henry & Bubba brought the personality, showing up in the signature drink names, cocktail napkins, and even the cake.

And for Emily, cocktail hour ended up becoming one of the most memorable parts of the day.

“I loved walking into the venue and seeing all of your favorite people at cocktail hour with our romantic candles lit, flowers on the table, our signature drinks in guests’ hands, amazing food being passed around, and our favorite Charleston music playing,” she shared.

Emily also credited Juniper by Tonic coordinator Amanda as one of the most helpful parts of the planning process.

“She answered me right away whenever I had a question or idea, took my vision and executed it perfectly the day of.”
