A Celebration in Full Color: Sarah & Matthew at Kent Island Resort
A rainbow of florals, color-coded tablescapes, and one of the most memorable reception designs we’ve seen
Color was the design brief.
Not one color. All of them.
Sarah and Matthew’s wedding at Kent Island Resort embraced a full-spectrum palette that appeared in nearly every detail, from the ceremony florals to the reception tables and even the lighting surrounding the band stage.

A Rainbow Ceremony on Maryland’s Eastern Shore
The ceremony took place beneath a pergola wrapped in blooms. Blue, violet, coral, pink, yellow, orange, and red flowers climbed each post and stretched overhead, creating a rainbow effect that framed the couple as they exchanged vows.
Set within the grounds of Kent Island Resort, the floral installation became an immediate focal point. The color story continued through the bouquets and personal flowers, where vibrant blooms replaced the more traditional single-palette approach often seen in wedding florals.

Portraits Across the Property
While the reception embraced bold color and dramatic design, Sarah and Matthew’s portraits showcased a different side of the celebration.
The portraits move through several distinct settings, from open fields and gardens to tree-lined paths and waterfront views. The result is a gallery that feels remarkably varied despite taking place in a single location.
The collection includes everything from wide-open landscapes to intimate moments together. Sarah and Matthew walking hand in hand through the grass. Quiet moments beneath the trees. Sunset portraits overlooking the water.

The Farmstead Transformed
The reception took place inside The Farmstead, one of several event spaces at Kent Island Resort.
Floor-to-ceiling white draping transformed the room, creating a blank canvas for the color story at the reception.
A long central table stretched through the middle of the space, with colors gradually shifting through the spectrum. Coral gave way to pink. Pink moved into lavender. Lavender transitioned into blue, green, and yellow. Colored glassware, menus, candles, linens, and florals reinforced each section.
The surrounding round tables each featured their own color story.
Rather than repeating the same centerpiece and linen combination throughout the room, coral, lavender, blue, and green appeared in different combinations across the reception. Some tables were anchored by lush floral arrangements while others featured towering trees rising from the center of the design.

A Reception Designed Around Color
The color story didn’t stop at the tables.
A live band performed on a stage lined with colorful florals and backed by rainbow uplighting. Lounge groupings added layers of color and texture while creating additional spaces for guests to relax and socialize. The escort display added a touch of whimsy with a wall of colorful heart-shaped sunglasses.
What stands out most about the design is how completely the concept was executed. The colors weren’t limited to a few accent pieces. They shaped the entire experience.

Jewish Wedding Traditions
Sarah and Matthew also incorporated a Ketubah signing into their wedding celebration.
This Jewish tradition takes place before the ceremony and centers around the signing of a beautifully designed marriage contract outlining the couple’s commitments to one another. Surrounded by close family and friends, the moment offered a meaningful pause before the festivities began.

A Private Moment Before the Celebration
For all of the visual impact, Sarah’s favorite moment happened before guests ever arrived.
The first look gave them a private moment together before spending the rest of the celebration surrounded by family and friends.
One lesson she took away from wedding planning?
“Get the wedding planner early. They save so much stress.”
